Don;
Go look closely at those items and you will see many have solutions so
there is no point of solving them.
The solutions are also counted in the vast numbers.
Unless you analyze and categorize them all, the numbers are
meaningless for reasons I already mentioned in another post.

Now if someone goes through the 850,000 items analyzing them as well
as separating the irrelevant, then the data becomes more usable.
A further breakdown with hardware and software involved makes it even
more usable.
As for the evidence, it is largely in the 850,000.
That would take more resources than most here can provide.

The popular number of 10% from the few already completed surveys is
used.
You can then remove the numbers of damaged Windows, whether by
spyware, viruses or other software issues and the % has to drop
further.
Then add those with incompatible hardware such as Prescott processors
and it drops further.
The exactly numbers here are unknown AFAIK, but the result of
subtracting these has to further drop the %.
Another group simply needs a setting change necessitated by SP-2,
often because of the Windows Firewall.
Removing these again drops the % further.
What is the actual % after those removed because of damaged Windows or
lack of maintenance?
Whatever it is it is less than the beginning number.

When I look at the Google list, the first items are not problems at
all, they are information about possible issues or information about
10% of computers may be impacted, that does not necessarily mean
nonfunctional.

There is no single cause of SP-2 issues as you should know.

SP-2 is not even involved in all of the Google items so SP-2 is not
even a common denominator.
You would also probably find some that have nothing to do with
computers.

The causes for the actual problems are almost as many as there are
problems with nearly as many solutions.

All problems, known and unknown, should be resolved before attempting
to install anything especially a Service pack.
If not it is nearly impossible to locate other possible causes.
