Are you sure the error was "winver" and not "winsrv"?
You receive a "Stop: c0000135" and "winsrv was not found" error message
after you install Windows XP Service Pack 2

If the above does not apply to you, if you have a computer with two cd
drives, one of which is a burner, boot with Knoppix. Knoppix is a Linux
distro that runs from cd. You can get it at www.knoppix.net. Knoppix
will be able to see all the data, the Windows passwords will not
matter, and you can burn the data to cd-r using the program k3b. Then
you can clean install Windows if you like.
