This is what I've tried so far. In booting up the computer and pressing F8, a
Windows Advanced Option Menu apears. When I select "Safe Mode", "Safe Mode
with Networking" and "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" (I only the option for
Windows XP Pro) I then receive the prompt asking me to press Ctrl-Alt-Delete
to begin. Despite pressing these three keys ... I cannot get past to the
next prompt that would ask me for my password. The only keey that responds
is Enter which brings up the window showing where the keys should exist on a
keyboard. If I continue to press any keys, eventually I get the time-out
tone.
I've been told that I may have software running in the background that is
locking up the Ctrl-Alt-Delete response and that if I wait long enough then
the software would eventually time itself out. I've done this, the last time
it took about 12 hours for the computer to finally respond and bounce into
the password window. But so far I have waited about 36-48 hours and the
computer is still not responding. Could my recently install spybotware be
actually locking up my computer and not allowing me to access the password
window. And if so, is there a way that I can deactivate it so that I can
then change how I access the computer (disingage the password option)?
Thanks.
