Windows Update problem?

I open windows update and i says "searchin for latest version of windows
update software" i wait, and wait, and then wait some more...nothing
happens..the reason i need to update is because i did a non-destructive
system restore, which got rid of all my updates...so now i have my basic
windows..no SP2, not even Sp1, i don't have any of my new drivers....

any way i can fix it?
