Error: Implements the NT service that starts the server

About half the times that I sign into Windows XP under my
screen name a window pops up with the error: "Implements
the NT service that starts the server encountered a
problem and needs to close" and gives me the option to
report the problem to Microsoft.

Can anyone tell me what causes this error and how to
correct it?
