Hi,

Upgrading does not erase files, though you should still backup anything you
do not wish to lose. Your HP recovery disks were designed to work in the
supplied installation, upgrading it may cause the applications not to work,
but then again some of them will run just fine. Some may require a patch or
upgrade, and the best source for this is the program vendor.
