Old Drive User Password

I switched from a 20G ATA HDD using Win98 to a 120G SATA HDD using XP PRO.
Things ran fine for a while but now the 120G HDD crashed and an attempt
re-installation failed. I will probably have to wipe the 120G drive and do a
clean re-install. There are gobs of files on the 120G HHD I need to retrieve
but I had it password protected. Using my old 20G HDD I'm temporarily back
up and have slaved the 120G drive but can't access the material because of
the old password protect. How do I delete the password to retrieve the files
before I wipe and re-install XP Pro onto the 120 Drive?

Thx in Advance for any/all help !
