I do (have excellent backups) and there is something to fear.
Within minutes of my system crash post sp2 install it was in the process of
a format and clean XP pro install. That's the easy part.
Then comes hours of system clean up, updates and tweaking to my liking.
Then comes installing all my software apps again and then getting and
installing all the updates to them.
Then comes installing (from my restored Received Files folder) all my
utilities. Most requiring registering and activation keys be entered.
Then comes the wireless network set up - passwords to be entered, encryption
set up, file sharing set up, print sharing set up and tested
Then comes restoring all my data files including importing all my OE .dbx
files.
My fear is that one day soon I'll do a clean install, go to the Microsoft
update site to get all the pre-sp2 OS, IE, OE, Office Suite, drivers, etc.
and they won't be there in favor of simple sp2!
