Pest Patrol is bad, in my opinion, one time I used it, killed the "spyware" and
windows stopped working. Had to restore to the previous day. Whew.
Best combo, I think:
Ad Aware 6
Spybot Search and Destroy
Norton AntiVirus
BHODemon
XP Firewall
Opera Browser
Run Ad Aware and Spybot every couple days and you should be good against 99% of
the stuff out there as long as you keep them all updated.
Ad Aware doesn't catch everything, which is why I also use Spybot, though
sometimes Spybot will hang on you in the final cleanup stage.
BHODemon will catch most of the browser helper crap that you can get tagged with
sometimes..
I originally used Opera for it's built in pop up blocker that you can turn on,
though with SP2 now IE also has the capability, BUT it's more annoying in IE
since it usually pops up the "do you want to block etc this page" yada yada, so
i think Opera or Firebird by Mozilla are still the best choice for IE and they
don't have the constant supply of security holes that microsoft has to keep
fixing.
