I had Office XP installed then updated it to SP3 then installed Office
2003 over the top of that as an update and then updated 2003 to SP1
with no problems. 2003 kept all my XP settings.
It sounds as if you have done the 2003 installation as a new
installation rather than an update, so you have both XP and 2003
installed (in separate folders, I assume). That's a bit of a waste,
unless your XP has a component like Front Page that 2003 doesn't have.
However, now that you have both, you should update XP to SP3 and 2003
to SP1, both from the Office Update site.
I don't see any burning reason to keep both - suggest you get rid of
Office XP, unless you really need Front Page or else can't reinstall
it separately.
