Ascentive Support Center : Troubleshooting Guides : Installing : Error
message : Outdated MSWINSCK.OCX

I need troubleshooting assistance...

I see one of the following errors:

Component MSWINSCK.OCX or one of its dependencies is not correctly
registered: a file is missing or invalid.

The File MSWINSCK.OCX is out of date or missing. This program requires a new
version.
SOLUTION:

In order to fix this problem, you'll need to set up and register the library
file.

Here's how to do it:

Download a new copy of this library file. For differentiation, the file you
will download is called MSWINSCN.OCX.
Back up your current copy of MSWINSCK.OCX and copy the new version to the
same file location. This file should be located in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM
directory on your C: drive (for Windows NT and 2000: \WINNT\system32).
Change the name of the newly downloaded file to "MSWINSCK.OCX".
Using your mouse, click on the "Start" button and then click on "Run".
Type the following command to register this library file: regsvr32
\windows\system\MSWINSCK.OCX (for Windows NT and 2000: regsvr32
\WINNT\system32\MSWINSCK.OCX)
You should see a message saying "DllRegisterServer ... succeeded"
If you are getting an error telling you that the file is missing, then you
are not typing the command in correctly. You will need to type it in
*exactly* as follows:
regsvr32 \windows\system\MSWINSCK.OCX
regsvr32 \WINNT\system32\MSWINSCK.OCX (for Windows NT and 2000)

* Please note that there is a space after "regsvr32" and before
"\windows\system\MSWINSCK.OCX"
You should probably copy and paste the command so that you are unable to
mistype it.

Download MSWINSCN.OCX now

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are unable to register a Windows Library file manually with the
regsvr32 command, you should be able to register them with the Microsoft
VBRUN60.EXE tool.

The latest Library files may be installed by using a program provided by
Microsoft called VBRUN60.EXE. VBRUN60.EXE installs the Microsoft Visual Basic
6.0 run-time library (MSVBVM60.EXE) and updates required Automation files
used by Visual Basic 6.0 applications (including the one that you are
missing). VBRUN60.EXE may be downloaded from the Microsoft Web Site:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q192/4/61.asp

If you are having problems registering a Library file, your computer's
operating system may not be functioning correctly. You may need to perform a
Windows System Update (free at www.microsoft.com), or have a Microsoft
Systems technician help you register the DLL file on your computer so that
you may use Ascentive's software.
