Installed SP2 from CD onto XP Home Edition. Upon required reboot, the system
would boot up to a blue screen (just past initial windows welcome screen)
and display the message "Page_Fault_in_NonPaged_Area". System would then
automatically reboot until it got to the blue screen -- over and over again.
1. Tried to boot up in Safe Mode - No Success.
2. Tried to run Recovery as per Microsoft Knowledge Base article. After
typing in command lines I received several "Access denied messages", then
"File not found", and then repeated "1 file installed" messages scrolling
down screen for several minutes until it returned to command prompt. At
command prompt - typed in exit, rebooted, and same problem (Blue "Page
Fault..." Error messages and then automatic reboot).
3. According to KB article, I have to be able to get to my desktop to
uninstall the SP2 upgrade (from Start/Run/cmd) but I can't get to the
desktop as windows will not fully load.
Other Info:
1. I do not use an Administrator Password so I just hit enter at that
point.
2. I did run "Ad-Aware SE" and "Spybot" software before install.
3. Zone Alarm with Antivirus is installed on the computer.
4. Disconnected all peripherals from computer except
mouse/keyboard/video/and internet router cable.
