Yes.

For the complex open GL ones, quite a lot.

I was having trouble getting the midnight backups
at my office to be complete when the staff came in
at 0700 next morning-turned out that all the damn
screensavers were gobbling so much CPU that it
was taking forever...

Going to blank screens reduced the time req'd for
backup to 6+ hours to 50 mins.
