Hi!
All I have installed on my XP system currently, is:
SiS AGP Driver
SiS Mini-IDE Driver
C-Media 973x Audio Codec
ATI Radeon 9200SE Drivers, Control Panel & hydravision
(Catalyst version 3.6 I believe)
I reinstalled (all services at default setting) and then disabled
WebClient, and there were no errors. But then I disabled other
"unnecessary" services (inc. WebC) and was getting the message again.
But I do not notice any drop in speed when shutting down. I decided
just to leave it disabled, unless anyone believes the unload error
causes a serious risk,
On another note, I now have only Plug And Play, RPC and Windows Audio
set to Automatic, and Cryptographic Services and Windows Installer set
to Manual. All other services are disabled.
I disabled Event Log because all I was getting was this error and
numerous DCOM errors for services I disabled (I am not using DCOM).
Disabling Event log has added maybe ten-fifteen seconds to my
boot-time ("Windows is starting up...") but I seem to be okay once in
Windows, and I have plenty free resources!
Is there any major drawback from getting this Userenv error, or having
Event Log disabled (aside from the extra startup time) ? I guess I
would be getting quite a few errors if I had the Log on (DCOM &
Userenv) but I know where the DCOM ones are coming from, and the
Userenv thing, no one seems to know much about, so Event Log doesn't
have anything new to offer me!
Thanks for your help! :)
Daniel
