Aghh dialup no longer works

Aghh made the mistake of trying to load ADSL sw onto
laptop, did not work and during process gave me error
messages re DCMP. Now dialup does not work, it dials and
appears to be connected but cannot use web or download
email, eventually I get a timeout type error messages.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA
