WinXP: Can't change / delete drive letters in DiskMan..

After an install of Roxio EZ CD Creator shuffled my drive letters, I
tried to change them back using Disk Manager. Unfortunately, the
Change and Delete options in the "Change drive letter and paths"
dialog are ghosted.:

I eventually fixed it by renaming the corresponding registry keys
under HkeyLocal_Machine / System / MountedDevices.

Any idea why the change and delete options are disabled in disk
manager?
My user profile shows I have administrative rights, and I'm the only
user of this system.

I've searched Google and the MS KB, and can only find instructions on
how to use the Change and Delete options, which I can't use.
