further to my previous followup, go to the following symantec link, download
and install the latest version of LiveUpdate... that may resolve your
current situation. no need to uninstall the old LiveUpdate, the new one
will automatically uninstall the old one.

download latest LiveUpdate:
ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/liveupdate/lusetup.exe
