First suggestion is uninstall SP2 ... which is ( supposed to be)
possible from control panel ..

Yes windows firewall try to impose yourself instead of other products
by creating conflicts with them .. Disable it .. If microsoft wanted
it windows firewall could have configured itself from your existing
setup . However SP2 is designed specifically not to do that .

Whatever your firewall settings you have to dig them up and introduce
it windows firewall, which may appear tobe off but it isnt and keeps
working at the background, ( everytime you boot anyway )

Ask yourself why do you need SP2 ... A lot of big companies asked
microsoft exlude SP2 from automatic updates so that that they can
evaluate compatibility issues with their equipment..

We cant do it .. we are individuals and microsft holding us to ransom
by installing spayware into our computers, so that only the products
they approve can be used.....

Unfortunate that we all become slaves of Microsoft .. I have now
definitely decided to distant myself any microsoft product .. ( which
i had thought of doing when they did similar things with win98 updates
but gave one last chance for winXP.. )

No doubt a new microsoft product on its way to replace XP ... SP2 did
the damage it was supposed to ..

Even after you uninstall, your computer will not be same.. you will
have sound problems / network problems and a lot slower machine than
you used to have.

Reinstal XP on a new hard disk , use a third party firewall /
antivirus , turn off automatic updates . ( Do nnot attempt to update
Windows Media Player ) Thats the way to manage for a while ..

What is missing ? Nothing
