If you haven't already, try the Housecall online scanner at the link Kelly
provided. If the problem is related to one of the worms, you can get around
it by copying the Task Manager, Regedit and MSConfig files with .com
extensions. This bypasses the hijack the worm adds to the .exe shell in the
registry and allows you to run the applications safely.
You might also have better luck using Trend Micro's sysclean. Download the
sysclean package at http://www.trendmicro.com/download/dcs.asp and get the
latest pattern file. Copy both to a temp directory, cold-boot Windows in Safe
Mode and run sysclean.com.
