hi darrell,

i have drive image 7. i don't remember <or probably didn't understand, is
more like it - smile> that in case of a major problem, that i could boot my
laptop from the image on my external drive.
is there something special i have to do to be able to boot from my external
drive?
if it helps i have a maxtor 160gb and a western digital 80 gb - both
external and 2.0 usb
like you i have my external drive turned off, unless i am using it.

earlier tonight i posted a message about not having a full recovery plan,
based off of some articles i read today in a magazine. i was concerned
because i thought having an image meant that i could restore the entire
drive or if i had to replace the hard drive, use the image from the current
drive and restore it to the new drive.

a few years ago, my hard drive died. the company sent me another one, but i
had to start from scratch. i had only backed up my data. at the time i
didn't know about imaging software <smile>

thank you.

: A way around that is to buy a 2.0 USB external hard drive for your image
