SP 1a problems....

I have just re-installed XP-Pro following a hard drive
crash. I have spent 2 days rebuilding this machine.
I then applied SP-1a and rebooted when requested. The
system now hangs at boot when loading MUP.SYS file. I
cannot get to the prompt to rename the file and run sfc
as suggested by kb841570.
The machine has 2 SATA drives with RAID-1 configured.
System was running fine until I installed the SP.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I tried to do the online
help from MS, but they want a product number - and of
course I can't get one of those because the machine won't
boot!!! What a fiasco!!
