Since upgrading to SP2, my PC can't be found by the
other PCs on my local network.

The problem started immediately after I installed
the SP2 "upgrade". I was unable to map to shared
directories on the PC with SP2 from other PCs.
Something I had been doing constantly without a
single problem.

In trying to debug this, I quickly found that in
general, the PC with SP2 became "invisible" to the
other PCs on the local network.

If I do a Ping against the PC with SP2 from another
PC, it will just time out. If I do a "find computer",
it will come back NOT FOUND. Even if I try to Ping
the PC with SP2 using its IP address, it times out.

Let me note, though, that on the PC with SP2, I can
successfully Ping itself. I don't know if that means
anything, but I thought I would mention it.

I have the new SP2 firewall completely turned OFF. At
least according to the SP2 Security Center. So, it can't
be related to the firewall settings, can it?

In desperation, I uninstalled SP2, and my PC with XP
(now at SP1) returned to working just fine. :)

* What's wrong with SP2? Why is SP2, without the firewall,
stopping other PCs on the local network from "seeing" it?
* More importantly, if I ever re-install SP2, what options
do I need to set to get it to work right???
* Is there a new way to share directories in SP2???
* With the firewall turned OFF, how can I change its setting?
Right now, the Security Center doesn't allow you to enter
the firewall GUI when it is turned off.
* Am I stuck with never being able to upgrade to SP2 or any
  future updates?
