The cheapest way would be to remove the hard drive from the Win98 machine,
plug it in to the machine with Windows XP and then you can just copy desired
files from one drive to another. If both machines have network card then you
can transfer these files directly from machine to machine using the network
(if you do not have Switch as part of your network then you may have to buy
a special cable that has couple of leads reversed and is used to connect two
PC's directly with such cable - about $6-$8 at a small neighborhood computer
store, much more at City/BestBuy.)
