  http://www.blackviper.com/ Is a good place to go to switch off unnecessary services that may be loading at start up.

  You could also download and run Bootviz to find out graphically where the delays are occurring. I would not bother trying it's optimise button as XP will soon do it's own optimisation.

  Clear out all temp files and run Spy ware cleaners such as Ad ware and Spy bot search and destroy.
