Your suggestions got me a long way toward taming this
tiger. I've got one remaining annoyance that I can't
seem to master.
There is a process running named 'ftpav' which runs a
file named 'ftpav.exe' located in the C:\Windows\Cursors
folder. Norton AV indicates that this is adware, but
can't delete the file. Using Regseeker, I can find the
keys that run the process at startup and I can delete
them, but the next reboot puts everything back as it was.
Has anyone seen this before, and how do I get rid of it?
Also, I still can't edit the registry using regedit. The
error states "Registry editing has been disabled by your
administrator." Note that I am logged in as the
administrator (owner). I can't find a setting that would
disallow access to the registry. Any thoughts on how to
fix this?
Thanks for the help so far.
