Different people use different ways to access this news group. Some have their news
readers set to only download a small number of headers. Some access using their browsers.
Some are just newbies, and don't know easy methods for getting information quickly in a
news group from messages/threads that have already been posted. Personally, if I want the
fix for a Windows XP problem, before I post, I log into this group using Google/Groups,
because Google archives YEARS of posts, allows search with key phrases as well as key
words (which really cuts down on false hits), is really fast, and gives the option of
viewing a message or the whole thread. So, if I were looking for a the fix for the often
asked question about the incorrect number of email on login. I'd go to:

http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&group=microsoft.public.windowsxp.genera
l

Then type: email "at login" in the Search box, select the option to only search in this
group, then click the SEARCH button. The results quickly appear, and there's an option to
sort them by date, which is sometimes advantageous if a newer/better fix has been found.
For posting, I like Outlook Express. But for finding the information if it has already
been posted, searching this group in Google Groups is a real time saver.
