Have you tried creating a small partition? For example let us say you have a
40GB hard drive try creating a 20GB partition and see if XP will create it.
Alternatively, do you have a windows 98 or Me startup disk? You can download
one from www.bootdisk.com Once you have copied the files from the
www.bootdisk.com to a floppy insert the floppy in the floppy drive and
reboot. At the 'A' prompt type fdisk. This should allow you to select your
drive and then create a partition.
