truth is, any file download over the "internet" , no
matter what software or hardware is used, files can become
corrupted during the download. Particularly - large files
and compressed files - one byte missing and yer gone
baby... Whereas media file formats*(mp3-mpeg-jpeg) are not
as sensitive - unless they are compressed. but yes to
reinforce a previous point, using download
managers/programs just adds another stopping point along
the way for that data you are downloading - thus
increasing the chances for any data corruption to occur.
Also using the pause function in many download managers is
a sure fire way to toast yer download. FTP has a
reputation of being really reliable, but usually too geeky
for most. Generally, if your download stops and starts
many times(poor connection-poor computer hardware) and is
a compressed format such as rar and zip - it's probably
going to be screwed - especially things like MS service
packs that have lots of individually compressed files -
it's need to be perfect.the download that is. how else
would anyone want it?
and a big bravo and cheers to MS for xpSP2 - very well
done, despite the hype and delay - well done
seriously :)
