I just ran Live Update & it installed a WMI component for Norton
Internet Security. As advertised, it posted a message that Live Upd
needed running again. I repeated it, until the message that all updates
are installed.
Security Center reporting for Nav/Nis wasn't changed from the
detected, but status unknown. So I rebooted. Whatever was changed
removed my Plextor PX-708A from the boot sequence in BIOS.
When I got back into XP, sure enough the DVD recorder wasn't in
my Device enumeration. I Uninstalled the "Phantom" and redetected.
Security Center saw the Norton Firewall for about 2 minutes before
it went back to "Unknown".
I haven't fully checked all this out, but this update from Symantec isn't
going to make people happy. My Advice to everyone with Nis/Nav
is "Do NOT run Live Update. This WMI Patch is not effective.
