Thanks Jon. I turned on my computer this morning and my
Norton alerter popped on screen and said "Access rules
automatically created for C:\windows\System32
\svchost.exe". I immediately tried Windows Update and it
worked ( I had previously added
https://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
and >-----https://download.windowsupdate.com to the
trusted zones and it still would not work). It appears
to have been a delay with the Norton Firewall recognizing
whatever it has to recognize to automatically create
firewall system rules or vice versa with SP2 as the very
same thing happened with another computer of mine that
was updated to SP2. At any rate both computers are now
able to access the Windows Updater without manually
configuring the Norton Firewall to allow access. The
delay is mysterious as I also had tried reboots both by
restarting and turning the computers on and off without
success.
