Removing user accounts

I was wondering if there was a difference in how user
accounts are removed in Windows XP? When I use the
account manager in the control panel the user's prfile
folder still appears in the Documents and Settings folder
and the user profile changes to user unknown in the user
profiles section of System Properties (under the advanced
tab.)

When I remove a user profile using the user profile
section in System properties (under the advanced tab) the
user's profile is removed from the System properties
section, the user's profile folder is removed from the
Documents and Settings folder, but I still have to remove
the user from the user manager in control panel.

What is the difference in these methods? Removing a user
from the System Properties seems cleaner.
