Add or Remove Programs list is short

Hello,
I am running Windows XP SP1. I wanted to uninstall an application and
opened the 'Add or Remove Programs' applet in control panel only. I
found that the list of installed application is very short and in fact
missing most of the applications installed.
What is causing this and how do I get a complete listing?
