The only problem with this method, as I have discovered, is that on some
computers the BIOS password means the Boot password and there is also a
password to access the setup for the BIOS. If she is missing the bootup
password the software method can't work and you will have to either use the
jumper method (if you look at the motherboard from the front of the machine
the far left corner, to the left of the left most pci slot you will normally
find the bios jumper. It normally will have the three pins as stated
before. You should get the manual out for the location before jumping
anything on the motherboard.) If this is a laptop computer you will have to
undo the case and find the BIOS battery. This probably will have to be
unsoldered (although there are a few manuf. that use a clip in battery) from
the motherboard. Remove the rechargable laptop battery also. Once the bios
battery is pulled and replaced, reassemble the machine, plug in its charger
and boot from "shore power." Once everything is OK turn off and unplug and
put in rechargable battery again. This is not normally a job for the weak
hearted. (The computer I am typing this on has a Boot password and a System
password. Both became corrupted and I had to totally disassemble the laptop
to pull the battery. It wouldn't get pas the initial BIOS screen.)
