Okay. Go to Start>Run and key in:
gpedit.msc
hit ENTER
Under User Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, then expand
Control Panel and click on the Display folder. In the right-hand pane,
double-click on "Password protect the screen saver" and under the Setting
tab, click in the radio button beside either Not Configured or Disabled,
then click on Apply then OK. Now, check under the Screen Saver tab in
Display Properties window....is the checkbox beside "On resume, password
protect" no longer greyed out?
Back to the Group Policy window, under User Configuration and expanded
Administrative Templates, expand System and click on the Power Management
folder. In the right-hand pane, double-click on "Prompt for password on
resume from hibernate/suspend" and under the Setting tab, click in the radio
button beside either Not Configured or Disabled, then click on Apply then
OK.
Now, open the Power Options applet in Control Panel, then Advanced
tab.....is the checkbox beside "Prompt for password..." no longer greyed
out?

Also on Power options, the box is checked to prompt for password when computer resumes from standby. All of these entries are greyed out and I cannot modify them. It is like someone else has control here. I am set up with Administrator rights on this PC. Any suggestions? I have downloaded the TweakUI and set the grace period to the max. This should work but I would like to fix it to be right. Thanks for your fast response. > > "Patti MacLeod" wrote: > > > Is there a screensaver chosen or is it set to "(None)"?
