Error 1324

Whilst trying to install software recently, I got the
following error message:- 'Error 1324. The path My
Documents contains an invalid character.' I also got the
same error message later today whilst trying to uninstall
some different software via Control Panel Install/Uninstall
utility. I get the same error message using the program's
undelete facility.

What could this be?
