Restoring Backup with XP when performed on 98

I backed up my system using the backup function in Windows 98 2nd edition. My system crashed and had to get a new computer.
I am now running XP Home Edition. How can I restore some of these files that I have backed up with 98. I cannot find the backup function in XP.
