Hi guys.
I previously installed about 2800 fonts, as i use many
fonts for graphics design. however as a result software
that was using fonts, such as photoshop, or open office,
was perfroming poorly.
to fix the issue, i deleted all the fonts in my windows
XP font directory C:/windows/fonts/. I then reloaded all
the fonts from another WinXP machine, so i have the
standard files.
the issue i have now is that things like software, being
installed, or settings areas in software, sometimes
display rather poorly. it means that often i am unable
to change settings or choose install paths because of
buttons being hidden out of sight.
the problem only happens with some software, for
example "mozilla firefox 0.9" displays badly,
whereas "mozilla 1.7" displays correctly.
to show you guys the problem "Mozilla firefox" looks like
this...

the subsequent pages don't allow me to change directory
paths and such because the buttons are off the right of
the window. these windows are also fixed in dimesions, so
i am stuck.
i am trying to figure out what i need to do to return the
default font to its default setting. i am presuming the
default font should display like this...

this installer works fine, along with many others, its
about 20-30% that don't work correctly)
an article in the knowledge base that was related to
somthing slightly different, made me think it might be a
registry setting, but i would not know what is correct,
so wouldn't be able to fix anything if i tried.
BTW its on WinXP home edition, SP1, with all the updates.
thanks a lot people.
Doug
