In addition to a disk/partition image utility, you have two other
alternatives
1. Use NTBACKUP. From the backup file, you can retore any file. If you
need to restore your whole system, you first must reinstall Windows, then
restore from the backup file.
2. Dantz's Retrospect [there may be other programs similar to Retrospect,
I'm just not aware of them]. Essentially similar to NTBACKUP, but total
system recovery is much faster. Takes me ~ 20min for a full system
recovery.
