Franklee--
I have a Dell and I'm a familiar with their site, and like Will said I get
the idea that Dell has files that customize Help and Support --I think I had
it on this machine back in the day, but I've done some wipes and reload so
I'm not sure. I can't remember but maybe this will get you what you want--I
sure hope so. It may be one of my original Dell CDs with other things.
I did some googling around and read a number of Dell Help and Support
threads on the forums on their site. I found this out.
The Help and Support files that Dell has customizing Windows XP Help and
Support may be prone to corruption not infrequently and maybe that's what
happened to yours. I don't think there is a folder for example where it's
stored or a way I know to reregister a .dll to make it show.
But if you go to the Dell site>Downloads and put in your service tag number,
your Dell model and your OS, and choose applications (I just did this for my
Dell Dimension, it takes me to a Download called Dell Help and Support
customizations V. 1.0.23 A00 which I bet will refresh your files to get it
back for you. Additionally, I have the option to click on a download
hyperlink called Dell Solution Center and when I do that I get a choice of
two Dell Solution Center downloads. I think this will get you what you want
back.
Also there are several threads on this in the Dell Community forums for
reference, and I found these to be representative in the direction you're
looking--reading them confirms that if you do what I said in the paragraph
above, you'll be able to download both Dell Solution Center and Dell Help
and Support and access them again. Let me know if this does it for you. I
know I found them for my model.
