Reformat the hard drive/partition. This can be done in two ways. The first
is using the xp cd. The details for this procedure is available on my
website www.freelanceit.glowinternet.net Click the Win XP Faq button and
look at question 7.
Obviously the instructions in question 7 finally result in windows xp being
reinstalled. If you don't want to reinstall xp you can always cancel the
install after you hace formatted your drive.
The second way is using a windows 98 startup floppy boot disk. Using this
method you can only format fat32 drives as an ntfs file system will not be
recognised by Dos. If you have an ntfs file system you will simply have to
delete the partition using fdisk on the win 98 floppy startup disk.
All you need do with the win 98 floppy is insert it in your floppy drive and
then reboot your machine. At the Dos 'A' prompt type 'format c:' (without
the quotes)
