RE: XP freezes when inserting any cd to any drive

Open your CD drive, remove the CD if any are in there and reboot your PC with
an empty drive. Now try it again. If nothing happens, try this:
Start/My Computer/rightclick your CD drive, probably "D" or "E" and click
Properties/hardware tab/troubleshoot.
