>Thanks to Hilary and Malke for the responses. No, I
wasn't offended at anyone, and I appreciate any help as we
live in West Texas where computer expertise is sometimes
thin. Please let me try to describe my problem once more
with "My Documents". I had not made any short cuts to it.
I was using exixting ones placed by XP itself. One on the
Desktop, and one in the top of the left pane of Windows
Explorer. I could also drill down through Documents and
settings\Windows XP\My Documents\ which displayed the 11
folders in it. Then opening any one of those folders and
display a file, the "message" would pop up over the file on
the screen stating "C:\...\filename.doc is being used by
[our names] Do you want to make a copy?: (Which neither
was true,) The message is just a nuisance, as you can
click 'X' or cancel the message, and with both of us having
administrator priviledges can immediately delete, change,
whatever the files. We do not have two accounts as we had
stated in the previous posts, nor did we have any other
instances of Word opened. This happens for every time we
open any file through these existing shortcuts, which is
more convenient than through Word. Now, if we open through
MS Word, we get the files without these messages OK, but it
is far more convenient to manage files from a list than
having to bring each one individually up through Word. I'm
sure this annoying message could somehow be 'tweaked out',
but I dont have a clue. I already have TweakUI and XP
power toys, but I don't see how they could address this
particular problem. We would SURE like to some how get rid
of these messages. I REALLY do appreciate your responses.
Thanks, Don
