My computer won't automatically shut down when logging off

I currently use Windows XP and just recently when I try to
shut my computer down it keeps restarting. I get
the "turn off computer" option with "stand by", "restart",
and "turn off" options. The "stand by" option is no
longer highlighted so I can't even click on it. When I
click on the "turn off" option, it restarts my computer.
I don't know where to start to fix this problem, nor what
is causing it. Can anyone help me? I sure would
appreciate it.

Thanks

Laurie
