What I have noticed with this patch is that it affected all 20 of my XP
Pro Thinkpads.
I am waiting to see if my work-around (I hope it continues to work)
eliminated the problem.
All I did was turn off the hibernate function, restarted the laptop and
now it appears to have begun shutting down normally once again. I
re-enabled hibernate and the problem has not reappeared but I'm still
waiting to see over the next few days.
I did not experience any shutdown issues ever on XP Pro before the
ADODB.stream patch so I definitely suspect this to be the cause of the
problem.
Although Jeff experienced delayed shutdown, my systems would never
shutdown unless the power button was held until the system turned off.
