It is one of the settings - those are for the number of dots (pixels)
across one line on the screen; then the number of lines vertically, then
(the refresh rate) the number of times the whole lot is displayed in a
second. You need a higher refresh rate if the screen flickers badly,
or for smoother movement in some games. For most people 75 or 80 a
second (Hz) is enough; don't overdo it and strain your monitor
