win_xp_pro crashes during boot

This sounds to be a hardware issue, if you have 2 or 3
DIMMS leave just one in, reboot and see if it comes up, if
not replace with another and repeat, unplug CD-ROMS, pull
out sound cards, NICS, MODEM if not intergraded. Do you
get any errors when booting from post, can you boot into
safe mode? if yes run chkdsk c: /f /r.
