hi r mccarthy,

yes, you are right - one needs to put backups on a variety of media, just in
case.

sometimes, software drives me nuts <smile>. i checked, i have drive image 7.
over the weekend, i'll give it a whirl.

thanks you for the heads up

: Imaging software has differing levels of support for USB as the
: destination drive. Some have native support of external USB
: disks and other's do not. Some backup directly from Windows
: and others require a CD/Floppy boot method.
: Just one note about backing up to an external drive. It's safer
: than having no image but there is a risk. All magnetic media can
: crash or be damaged by power spikes, etc. Don't rely on this as
: your only restoration method. Periodically, Burn your images to
: a removable media CD-R/DVD-R/W.
