Cannot open volume for direct access.

Does anybody know how to fix the problem described below?
I found it in Microsoft's Knowledgebase, but they last
reviewed it in August, 2003.

Cannot open volume for direct access.
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Windows has finished checking the disk.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the
Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of
this article.
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more
information in this article when the information becomes
available.
