Minimize programs in startup

I have several programs that are in my startup group so
they automatically load upon going into Windows. I want
them to be minimized upon startup. I've gone into that
programs properties, shortcut, run and set it to minimize.
It won't do it! I've gone into the root (original program)
and set it on there, that doesn't work either.

I appreciate any suggestions :) -Jamie
