IE6 Will not open due to error msgs

Hello, I hope that someone can help me. I have IE 6 and it will not launch for me. I get the error message "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I have sent the error report to Microsoft 100 times plus, also downloaded the patches to no avail. Additionally none of my Microsoft products will work anymore, nor can I access my programs through "Start...Programs..." Also, my Norton's Antivirus 2003 will not launch.

I am using Windows XP Pro, and I need my IE back. Am I doomed?
